Mail and Packages

I'm looking forward to bringing snail mail back in style, so if anyone is in search of a pen pal, I'm your girl!  Letters take about 2 weeks to arrive and packages take about 3 weeks.  If you feel inclined to send packages, Peace Corps suggests using flat rate boxes from the US post office as this is probably the cheapest option.  Also, don't bother with expedited shipping - it typically arrives at the same rate as 'air mail.'  My address in the Swaz is:

Kelsey Freeman, PCV
PO Box 2797
Mbabane H100, Swaziland
AFRICA

*Note the importance of writing AFRICA at the bottom as Swaziland is commonly misread as Switzerland...also, writing Christian phrases such as "Jesus Saves!" may deter those sinners who may be tempted to sneak a peak in the packages :)

In terms of suggestions for care package items, here are some ideas on things I may be missing from the States:
  • new music
  • Coffee
  • good smelling stuff (rumor has it my hut might have an interesting odor...*not a rumor, it's a reality, thank you goats and chickens for defecating in my hut)
  • pictures!
  • quinoa - no judgement, it's really expensive here and rice and beans gets old after a while...
  • trail mix/nuts (almonds!)
  • any American candy/cookies/etc - if you know me, you know I have a ridiculous sweet tooth...still working on getting rid of that...M&M's are good because they don't melt!
  • any craft project materials for the girls around the neighborhood - friendship bracelet string, beads, colored pens/pencils, GLITTER GLUE, etc.
  • Funfetti cake mix...ya know, for those nights when you just feel the need to eat an entire cake...
